The Proposals

This site comprises land associated with the Arcinova (formerly Sanofi / Covance)  pharmaceutical building. This land is no longer required for their operations.


The current proposals comprise new retail development which would enhance consumer choice in Alnwick and generate new job opportunities for local people. The development could include:



A new high quality neighbourhood foodstore of around 1,500 sqm

Non-food retail units of up to 1,860 sqm

Smaller units for either retail or food and drink use, totalling 240 sqm

Around 185 parking spaces

A new access from Willowburn Avenue and access/egress from Taylor Drive
